Dr. Hans Watson is a renowned author, speaker, psychiatrist and creator of Brain Reactivation Therapy. He has personally authored multiple books to include topics such as eliminating narcissistic influences, PTSD, diet, academic success and more. He also is also a nationally recognized expert in multiple areas of psychotherapy to include Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, Cognitive Processing, Prolonged Exposure, Couples, Marriage & Family, pediatric and more.
A great deal of Dr. Watson’s expertise came during his career in the armed forces. Before becoming a doctor, he was deployed to Afghanistan where he was assigned as an infantry embedded trainer (advisor that lives with, trains with and fights alongside the local army unit) for the Afghan National Army soldiers. It was after returning from Afghanistan as a decorated combat veteran and leader that Dr. Watson decided to attend medical school where he chose to enter the field of psychiatry.
During his psychiatric residency Dr Watson’s focuses included interplay between psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, psychiatric treatment in intellectual disability, pediatric psychiatry, marriage & family therapy, substance abuse and forensic work in Aviation Psychiatry. He is a nationally renowned keynote speaker for topics ranging from leadership to mental health, addiction, trauma and more. In addition to his own published works he has repeatedly been the trainer for therapists responding to emergency situations such as mass shootings at schools or military mass casualty situations.
He is an associate professor and trains both medical students and therapists.
Dr. Harline graduated from BYU before attending medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. From 1996 to 2000 he was a United States Air Force physician; he completed his four-year commitment with the rank of Major. Of his work at Alpine Recovery Lodge he writes, “I am privileged to help people who are greatly struggling to overcome their addiction. It is very much a team effort, and I have seen amazing results in many of the patients who are in recovery. The setting is beautiful, and the relatively low number of patients who are in treatment at any one time allows for more personalized care.”
Jeremy Ratliff is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Psychiatry. He earned his Graduate degree at Brigham Young University and his undergraduate degree at Utah Valley University. He has 14 years of undergraduate hospital experience, 8 of which include time as a Registered Nurse in Cardio-Thoracic and Neurological Intensive Care units. He has graduate experience across the lifespan in the diagnosis and treatment of all ages with an emphasis in community mental health including posttraumatic stress disorder, substance abuse disorders, mood disorders, attention deficit hyperactive disorder and anxiety disorders. He utilizes evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes and provide comprehensive care while demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and understanding.
Cindy is from Pleasant Grove, Utah. She attended BYU where she studied Accounting and Business and received a BA in Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino. She completed both the certificate and graduate programs from the Institute of Healing Arts, where she gained a deep appreciation of holistic modalities.
Cindy learned from her own experience what the parents of addicts have to go through, and she finds great fulfillment in helping the families of our patients on their own journeys of healing. She is deeply invested in her work at the Lodge and gives all that she can in order to “…halt the downward spiral, see the change in peoples’ lives, the sparkle come back in their eyes, their dreams become reality, and their lives head out on a new path.”
Amy is a Founding Partner and Financial Director of Alpine Recovery Lodge. She manages our insurance department, billing team, and marketing/outreach efforts. Amy also directs a scholarship program to help secure treatment for individuals with limited financial resources.
Amy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Nevada State College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Economics. Amy then went on to obtain a Master of Quantitative Finance from UCSD Rady School of Management. While working toward her Master’s degree, she was the President of the UCSD professional business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi.
Amy works remotely from Knoxville, Tennessee; but just like all our team members, Amy is dedicated to the role she plays in providing effective addiction recovery treatment for everyone who comes to the Lodge.
As the Program Director, Montana prides herself running the best program possible for our clients. She finds it important that everyone’s needs are being met and that they feel comfortable while going through these hard times. Her role at the lodge can’t be summed up easily as she is constantly helping where she is needed, but most importantly, she is always there to help. Montana’s goal is to make each patient feel just as comfortable as if they were at home. She is a firm believer in teamwork and is always stepping in to help. Montana believes that by creating a positive work environment where everyone helps each other, that good energy will transfer to the patients and will help them find positivity and hope in their early phases of recovery.
Jeremy is a Licensed Practical Nurse with over 10 years of experience in the healthcare field. A graduate of
Utah Valley University, he brings a strong clinical background and a deep passion for patient care to his
role.
Driven by a desire to inspire and uplift, Jeremy is committed to helping clients rediscover their self-worth
and build confidence throughout their recovery journey. His fun-loving spirit and genuine compassion
create a welcoming environment where healing can truly begin.
Outside of work, Jeremy enjoys spending time outdoors, finding balance and renewal in nature—values he
encourages clients to incorporate into their own lives as part of a holistic approach to wellness.
Jacob earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster College and later went to earn his Master in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Jacob has extensive experience in the substance abuse field. Before joining the Alpine team, he worked for Project Reality helping countless people learn the proper tools to help overcome their addiction.
Jacob is very proficient in working with patients and helping them practice healthy coping skills in real-life scenarios, and helping them recognize how their emotions can directly affect their thoughts and aid in a successful recovery. Jacob provides individual therapy, group therapy and family/couples therapy.
Jacob recognizes that recovery is a life-long endeavor that requires flexibility and the use of various modalities and approaches as no two patient’s situations and backgrounds are identical. Jacob looks at his patients as equals and valued individuals and doesn’t like to reduce them to labels (ie. addict), but rather works to build each patient up so they can recognize their own worth and potential.
Kelli earned a Bachelor of Social Work from University of Utah and a Master of Social Work from Boise State University. Kelli is also Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) certified. EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
Kelli has worked in the substance abuse field for several years and has experience with all different modalities and intensities of addiction. These experiences have allowed her to best understand addiction and mental health in a variety of ways and enables her to tailor treatment to each individual patient for a better recovery process. Kelli has served on many rewarding programs such as Road Home, Courage Reins, CASA and Friends and Family With Addictions.
Kelli believes that everyone deserves an opportunity to achieve their goals in recovery and life and given the proper tools, motivation & support anyone can be successful. Kelli offers individual therapy as well as family/couples therapy. Kelli states, “Sometimes our journeys may be difficult, but we don’t have to walk them all alone. I strive to bean integral party of this journey for all of my patients.”
Ami earned a full ride scholarship to receive her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Ami is also Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) certified. EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
Ami has worked in the substance abuse field for approximately 4 years and has experience with all different modalities and intensities of addiction. Ami also has worked with adolescent girls in State’s custody, many with substance abuse and trauma history. She has served as a Foster Parent for 16 years and fully understands the brevity of trauma and recovery. All of these experiences have enabled Ami to help clients feel their full potential and process through their trauma for a happy and healthy life during recovery.
Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Utah Valley University and is a licensed
Substance Use Disorder Counselor with additional certification as a Case Manager. With several years of
experience in the field of addiction recovery, Shannon has developed a strong foundation in supporting
individuals through every stage of the healing process.
Throughout her career, Shannon has worked in a variety of clinical settings, offering personalized care and
guidance to clients facing substance use challenges. In addition to professional work, Shannon has actively
volunteered for numerous nonprofit organizations, deepening her commitment to making recovery
accessible and sustainable for all.
Passionate about the transformative power of recovery, Shannon firmly believes that with the right support
and resources, every individual has the ability to rebuild their life. Her approach is rooted in compassion,
empowerment, and evidence-based practices, creating a supportive environment where lasting change is
possible
Will is a Substance Use Disorder Counselor at Alpine Recovery Lodge and is responsible for several of our recreational activities, while also offering many resources. Will is currently working on his Bachelor’s degree in social work from Utah Valley University, and also carries a certification in Substance Abuse Counseling from Utah Valley University, and an Associate’s degree from Snow College.
Will has worked in the recovery field for many years including being a Mentor and Case Manager for Mountain Peak Recovery and Pomarri before finding his home at Alpine Recovery Lodge.
As a child of two recovering addicts, Will believes that connection is key to overcoming addiction. He is very focused on establishing and maintaining positive support networks. Will is a huge asset at Alpine Recovery Lodge and he gives something positive to everyone that has the pleasure of meeting and interacting with him.
Laura Clark holds a Bachelor of Science in Marriage and Family Studies from Brigham Young University
and is certified in Marriage, Family, and Human Relations; Parent and Family Education; and Advanced
Marriage and Family Functioning. Her diverse background in office administration, customer service, and
special education has equipped her with a unique skill set that enhances her role as House Manager.
Laura is deeply committed to building and maintaining healthy, respectful relationships and brings that
dedication into every interaction with clients and staff. Her calm presence, strong organizational skills, and
compassionate nature help create a supportive and structured environment where individuals can feel safe
and valued.
A firm believer in the strength of family, Laura applies her passion for connection and care to foster a sense
of belonging and stability within the home. Her work is guided by the belief that healing and growth are
rooted in healthy relationships and consistent support
Heather is a dedicated Case Manager currently pursuing her Substance Use Disorder Counselor licensure,
with a long-term goal of specializing in social work. With several years of hands-on experience in both
substance use and mental health settings, she has developed a deep understanding of the complexities of
recovery and the importance of patience, empathy, and individualized care.
Through her work, Heather has cultivated a passion for supporting individuals on their journey toward
healing and renewal. Known for being a compassionate and attentive listener, she believes in meeting each
person where they are and offering unwavering support throughout their process.
Having witnessed the impacts of addiction firsthand within her own family and friends, Heather brings a
personal commitment to making a difference in the lives of those facing similar struggles. Her dedication,
combined with her growing expertise and heartfelt approach, makes her a trusted advocate for hope,
change, and lasting recovery
Darren’s love of culinary art grew while cooking with his mother and grandmother as a young man. As he got older, Darren started preparing meals for his family and friends while on various outings and trips which carried on into his marriage and family life making for some great backyard barbecues.
Darren began working at the age of 12 so he is no stranger to hard work and dedication. He attended Salt Lake Community College on a Trades scholarship and was able to start his own business. Darren prides himself on his excellent leadership & service skills all while whipping up a delicious meal.
There’s never a lack of laughter and good stories when Darren is around. He is a valuable part of the Alpine Recovery team as he has a strong belief in honesty, integrity and quality. As a part of the recovery community himself, Darren is able to connect with others on a very personal level and never judges anyone. The kitchen truly is the heart of the Alpine home and Darren embodies this with his family-style meals and friendly demeanor.
