What Kind of Treatment Should I Ask About?

Prepare for a care discussion. This tool does not assign a level of care.

This is a self-reflection, not a validated screening test. It has no diagnostic score and cannot decide which treatment you need.

Start the check-in

Before you begin

Check what you want to discuss with a qualified care provider. You can leave items blank or stop at any time. More checked boxes do not equal a diagnosis or a higher level of care.

No name, email, or phone number is needed. This check-in does not send your choices to admissions or save them in browser storage. General website analytics may still operate. Use a private device when possible. Printing may leave a copy on your device or printer. You choose whether to contact Alpine.

Need urgent help? If someone is in immediate danger, cannot be woken, has trouble breathing, has a seizure, or may have overdosed, call 911. For suicidal thoughts or emotional crisis in the U.S., call 988. Do not wait for an online result or an admissions call. These tools are not monitored.

Your check-in

Select the items you want help with. Then choose “Show my next steps.” If you prefer, read the guidance below without making any selections.

You can still read each item and the next steps below. Interactive results need JavaScript.

What your answers can help you discuss

Only a qualified clinical assessment can recommend the right level of care. Insurance approval is a separate process.

I am worried about withdrawal or a medical problem.

Start with a medical evaluation. An online tool cannot tell you whether detox is safe.

It is hard to stay safe or manage daily life at home.

Ask about a full safety and care assessment, including whether round-the-clock support is needed.

Weekly visits have not been enough.

Ask about more structured care, such as PHP, IOP, or residential treatment, based on your needs.

I need help with both mental health and substance use.

Ask how the program assesses and treats both concerns.

Work, children, housing, or travel may affect treatment.

Ask about practical support and program schedules.

I am moving from one program to another.

Ask for a written transition plan, appointments, and medication coordination.

Choose one small step

Ask: What do you recommend, why does it fit my needs, and what are my other options?

Words you can use: “I have noticed a change. I would like help understanding it and making a safe plan.”

Common questions

What if I did not check anything?

That does not rule out a concern. You may still ask a qualified professional about anything that worries you.

Who sees my choices?

This check-in does not submit your choices to Alpine. It does not alert a clinician. If you want help, contact a provider yourself.

Can this tell me whether I need residential care?

No. A care provider needs to consider your health, safety, daily life, support, and preferences before recommending treatment.
